Interesting twist..Israel has asked for speed up in defense shipment from US. BUT- Ste Dept officials have tried to nix the shipment..
Well I am just not believing this. We shall see. I don't care what they vote and agree on. I don't see this ending. Guess we shall see.
I'm wondering why the IDF hasn't come right out and denied these claims being that mainstream press is picking up on the story. You'd think if this was just Hizbullah propaganda Israel would come out and refute it in such a way so as to keep it off the MSM wires
A poll in the mass-circulation Yedioth Ahronoth showed 66 percent were satisfied with Olmert, down from 73 percent.
Sheesh!
A. Olmert has just led Israel to its first military defeat in its modern history.
B. Against the weakest foe it has ever faced.
C. In spite of the strongest support from the U.S. Israel has ever had.
And yet he still has significant support in the population as a whole.
Israel today is like the U.S. will be if the Democrats take power.
Scary.
I know...agree. If it's true- I would think it would change negotiations at the UN.
watch for option #2 - with Olmert blaming Bush and the US for "forcing us to stop" (nonsense of course).
spot on summation of events, 4 weeks ago such a post would have been unconceivable
I think people should stop predicting what WILL happen and wait and see. I have my doubts.
did you just hear Hemmer's report on FNC? Apparently, israel is getting hurt hard in their ground operations.
MSNBC said french troops will be deployed on the border as part of the new plan..to do what i don't know
I wonder if the pussyfooting around by the Olmert and the Cabinet has anything to do with that. Seems to me as if the soldiers don't know whether to shit or go blind due to inconsistent actions at the top.

the IDF has admitted to losing/sustaining heavy damage to 30 tanks. That is a fairly large number considering the amount of armor committed to the fight. It looks as if Hizbullah took a page out of the NATO playbook for dealing with the massive amounts of Soviet armor expected thru the Fulda Gap in the event the cold war went hot.

That's what happens when you go in with less than full force. You get picked off by dug in fighters. And Israel has lost a lot of tanks from modern anti-tank weapons. Holding back and fighting with one-hand figuratively tied behind your back is not a winning strategy.

Hedging?
What do you expect from a leader (Olmert) who has had to go home (after late nights at the office for the past month) to be greeted by Delilah ! ! !
Maybe this is why Syria is said to have "confidence." They have the same anti-tank weapons. Maybe, this is why Israel is anxious to get "wide area" anti-personnel weapons - to fend off a mass infantry assault from Syria.
