It was to be a martyrdom operation....

I don't have a problem with his wording.

Does this program have advertising sponsors?

Do they adhere to this kind of nonsense?

We're fighting an information war, along with a real war.

It's a matter of viewpoint. From the enemy side, thirty Muslims committing suicide while killing 4000 infidels is martyrdom. To them martyrdom has a lot of positive connotations.

To the victims, it's cold murder and terrorism. These naturally have quite negative connotations.

To the families of the murdered, it's utter horror.

So which side does Jim Steward view this from- victim's side, or perpetrators side?

To which side in this war is he granting the positive connotations, giving the sympathetic view?

That's why it matters.

A 'martyr' would be people on the plane these guys killed. As the agents of death, they're not martyrs, they're murders.

Just because insane muzzie murderers say it's martyrdom, doesn't make it martyrdom. A civilized "journalist" should be able to make that distinction....

"Even as they pushed the last Jews into the ovens, the German martyrs prepare to fight the Allies to their death!"

"Even as they beheaded the last Laotian, the martyrs of Pol Pot's army prepared to die at the hands of the Americans!"

I'm sure you would also NOT have problem with those descriptions either!
