Mo never set foot in Jerusalem.
From the recent Newsmax article....
Now Lewis, professor emeritus of Near Eastern Studies at Princeton, writes about that scenario. He notes in the Wall Street Journal that this year, August 22 corresponds, in the Islamic calendar, to the night when Muhammad flew first to "the farthest mosque usually identified with Jerusalem and then to heaven and back.
I think the whole religion is BS, personally. I am not saying if he did, or didn't go to Jerusalem....but somebody's incorrect.
Mo claimed to have been taken to "the farthest" mosque - which , in Arabic, is "al-aqsa." Al-aqsa is in the koran; Jerusalem is not.
After Mo's death, the muslims needed an excuse to claim the Jewish holy city as their own. They built a mosque on the temple mount, and called it "al-aqsa," since in muslimthink that would put Jerusalem in the koran.
