Why do I get the lfeeling that they're doing opposition research for future Congressional investigations?

Q When did the President first learn about this plot and the investigation into it?

They might as well have said, "What did the President know, and when did he know it".

I'll bet their hoping that a cell get through the dragnet, just so they can say "The President knew about this, but did nothing".
