***Just watch. It will be Bush's fault because we are in Iraq. We should have buried our heads ... and tried to be NICE to these monsters.***

I've already thought about what to say to an acquaintance of mine who will say just that. My only response, so far, is, "Then who was responsible for 9/11? And who was responsible for the FIRST attack on the World Trade Towers while Clinton was president and all the other attacks on our embassies and the U.S. Cole?"

Bear in mind that this acquaintance's loud comment on the day of 9/11 was, "This is Bush's fault. Him and his terrible foreign relations."

Anybody have a better answer? I would love to hear it.

This is the best I would say:

You may want to add in the foreign U.S. embassy that was bombed under CLINTON while he was being serviced UNDER his desk.

It is Clinton's fault. He emboldened them by NOT DOING A DAM THING about it. You might want to ask them if they'd like to view a REAL beheading. Nick Berg would be a good one ... and let them SEE what they'd like to do to THEM, asap. Ask them how you "reason" with people like THIS. Just how would they do that.

What foreign relations policy would change the fact that these people believe they are doing the work of God by destroying the west?

Bush had terrible foreign policy ~before~ 9/11? He'd barely had time to install all of his staff by then, let alone make any foreign policy moves whatsoever. Considering that the planning for 9/11 started about four years before, I guess the plotters had to be so mad at Bush that they went back in time to plan it?
