Governor asks National Guard to assist in airport security
(Boston - AP) - For the first time since the September eleventh terror attacks, a spokesman for Governor Romney says the governor plans to activate the Massachusetts National Guard to assist with security at Logan Airport.
The governor met this morning with public safety and transportation officials to get a status report and consider any additional response to the thwarted terror threat in Britain.
Like other major US airports, Logan is being impacted by heightened security measures in the wake of the terror plot.
Several flights were canceled to and from Boston and most flights experienced some delays while airport security enforced stiffer regulations.
The US government banned all liquids and gels from flights, including toothpaste, makeup, suntan lotion. Baby formula and medicines were exempted.
Helen Gault of Bedford arrived at Logan early this morning for a trip to London with her husband and two teen-age children, only to find out their flight had been canceled. Gault says they'll try to get tickets for a flight tomorrow.
He's on the air right now.
Because a terrorist mechanical infantry platoon might attack an airport?
