I've gone through this before on this forum and was pilloried by some who claim to have experience and expertise in all things aeronautical. I have neither.
1) Explosion near wing
2) Erratic motions by the aircraft
3) Aircraft begins nosedive as parts separate
4) Aircraft crashes into ground
These folks were so close, that the Captain of the vessel was able to position the boat over the wreckage of the tail assembly that sank in the bay. They remained on station until the NYPD Harbor Unit arrived to take over and supervise the raising of the assembly.

Thanks for the info. That 'accident' never sat well with me, though I am not sure why they would target a flight to the Dominican Republic (if I recall correctly).
