In "The Globe and Mail" discussions forum here, the lefties are complaining about security measures, and civil liberties. They are also, of course, saying this is all just a conspiracy to get G.Bush's approval ratings up. Waiting for them to realise that their views won't save them. The terrorists don't care. The mass murder these terrorists committ is unbiased, as I am quite sure that many of the people they would have murdered today are some of the very people who would appease them.
What it comes down to is simply this: the truth is too frightening for them to face. They're cowards. And they're unwilling to make the sacrifices that fighting entails.
So they remain in their comfortable fantasy world where conservatives are the (harmless) bad guys.
