I heard that, 1000 troops withdrew today. Olmert is an idiot. All what this UN resolution will do is to postpone the war for few more years.

Why do you think it will do anything? None of the other resolutions did anything except stop Israel. They should get out of the UN along with US.

Analysis: IDF fumes over denied victory

By YAAKOV KATZ

The booms of Katyusha rockets continued; another day of what has become routine in the North. But the IDF was holding position, waiting for orders that did not come. After 30 days of fighting, the war with Hizbullah seemed to be nearing its conclusion Thursday.

Just a day earlier, the situation had looked drastically different. The security cabinet had approved the army's request to send thousands of troops up to the Litani River and beyond in an effort to destroy Hizbullah's infrastructure and to stop the Katyusha attacks. After the cabinet meeting, one division actually began moving north from Metulla. Its goal - to clear out al-Khiam and Marjayoun and to reach the Litani.

The only hope I have now is this news. However, I do believe that this new UN resolution calls for IDF withdrawal in stages while international force goes in simultaneously. So my initial optimism about this piece of news is somewhat tempered after learning more details of the new UN resolution:

Hizbullah says no to deal that would keep IDF in Lebanon (first posted by knitting a conundrum)

Hizbullah announced that it would not abide by any UN Security Council decision that would not call for the withdrawal of IDF troops from Lebanon.

Lebanese media said the terror group continues to back Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora’s “Seven-Point” plan. (Roee Nahmias)

"...Olmert is an idiot. All what this UN resolution will do is to postpone the war for few more years."

Agreed! They lost all those countrymen and warriors for what?
Can't believe they can be such a punching bag and even take all the physical property damage let alone loose all the Israeli lives for nothing other than to embolden the enemy.

Rant off
