Keep in mind that Nasrallah threatened Tel-Aviv a week ago "if" Israel hit Beirut then within 2 hours after that announcement Beirut got hit and all they managed to get up was 1 drone that got smacked down. Don't get me wrong, I think the Hezbos can do damage but I also think that the air war was only the initial part of the war as planned.

Saying that Hezbollah is kicking Israel's asses seems a lot like saying the Germans were kicking the Allies asses on the beaches of Normandy, except the Allies were actually taking most of the casualties, IMHO. Those Hez rockets and missles seem to produce zero tactical results, again...IMHO. Is there any doubt in your mind that the Israeli army can eliminate this foe if allowed to continue? I really don't know enough about the Israeli armed forces.

Continue doing what? If they are continuing what they're doing now, yes, there is no doubt Israel will NOT eliminate this foe.

They have nothing to trade, a few miles of land the Lebanese know Israel will leave anyway if there is no deal.

Hmmmm.... I guess they should just surrender, then.

As it happens, however, Hezbollah is being forced to use its stock of missiles, to very little effect; its fighters are reportedly being killed in large numbers; Iran and Syria have been recognized by the world as being behind the Hezbollah activities; the Hezbollah infrastructure in Lebabon is being systematically destroyed; and most of the other countries in the area (e.g., Egypt, Jordan, etc.) -- not to mention Europe -- are not all that exercised about it.... All in all, Hezbollah looks like it's using and losing its assets to no good purpose.

It's difficult to define the exact parameters of victory in this kind of fight. But it seems to me that the ones listed above count heavily in Israel's favor.

lolol... pessimist. If they manage to "win" in the next while, this past stuff will be forgotten.

"Hezbollah is kicking Israel's a**..."

"reiterating Olmert's hope the UN will save his cowardly soul."

That's a lot of it. Olmert wanted some other force to clear out Hezbollah. That is just not going to happen until Hezbollah has clearly been weakened and so far that has not happened. Siniora talks out of both sides of his simpering mouth. He says the Lebanese Army can disarm Hezbollah while at the same time he says he "admires Nazarallah." He whines for an immediate cease fire and cries for the Lebanese people, but when push comes to Nasarallah and his bosses in Iran are running the show.

Isreal is going to have deal with this and take the losses. They MUST win. This is crunch time.

#51.

Thanks for the flank support!

It's you, me, and just about every Israeli english site I've read who agree as this being an Israeli/Olmert failure. So far.

Nasrallah is vowing that all the men under his command to die except himself. Typical of these jihadists. He is living high in the Iranian Embassy. Why should he care if his people die. He promised them all 72 virgins each. He has got to be running out of women as virgins. He is now using young boys.

It just occured to me...what exactly is the difference between "demanding a cease fire" and "crying uncle"?

It's the difference of capitualting or asking the teacher to save you. The bully picked a fight, he's getting his ass kicked, to now he turns to teacher/mommy and cries, "Make him stop!"

There is another, third view.

I have concluded that the current noise is just that. The PM must make noise or be assasinated. His life is literally on the line.Remember Harrai. He was exterminated before he could gain power and act.

The French et al early on signaled they favored letting the IDF act and have recently backed off. The change is because the IDF acted slower, with more deliberation than anticipated. The current action is a holding scenario to allow the war to proceed.

When the IDF is deemed successful or it seems a success, the malleable positions will revert to that near the beginning.

I am convinced that a fighting force led by France and involving the Lebanese Army will ultimately occupy the south. There will be others but France will lead. I enjoy Frog bashing as well as anybody, but they are the only logical nation for the job.
