A Palestinian militant fires toward Israeli troops during an arrest raid in the West Bank village of Qabatiyeh near Jenin, Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006. Four Palestinians were wounded when the army arrested an Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades militant, Palestinians sources said. The army said two Islamic Jihad militants were arrested during the operation. I think the mag is just behind the forward hand grip. It is the black thing partially obscuring the blue t-shirt, emergeing from behind the strap.

The light on the rifle is consistent with the light angles on the spectators.

Also, photographer could have used a flash (yes, even in broad daylight) to fill the shadows. The closer subject, with the rifle, would be more strongly lighted by the fill flash. This can sometimes cause slightly strange looking photographs; they look like bad photoshop jobs but aren't. I agree. Also, the spectators may be farther away than they appear in the photo if the photographer was shooting from far away with a telephoto lense. The shooter may actually by more fully lit by ground reflection if he's out further into the sun.

Look very closely at the weapon. It has no magazine. The shooter's left hand is wrapped around it.

no doubt if the Israelis had targeted him; his body would have been GONE and only the civilians he was hiding by left for the media!Only his gun would have been gone - he would be counted as a civilian among the dead.

Looks like a custom foregrip. You can mail order them out of a parts catalog.

You are the photo expert. I say staged only because that's how it's usually (99% of the time) done. And is the real sin of Reuters and other news fauxto agencies. They know their Muslim stringers are sending them staged photos and happily go along with this mass deception

That's the pattern on the blue t-shirt. If there were a 30-round in that weapon, you would see no blue of the shirt.
Big Sky, that's a hand grip and is too far forward on the weapon. Besides only a dumba$$ hajji would put his hand on the magazine while firing. I must have put 5000 rounds through mine and never once touched the magazine after it was inserted.

Nope. That is a pistol grip attached below the hand guard. The magazine well is just forward of the trigger. No magazine inserted at all.

That's probably something on bystander's shirt. If what you're saying is true, then the magazine does not connect to the rifle. Pay attention to where the magazine seats on the M4. If you don't know where that is, find a diagram on google, you'll see what I mean.

It looks like the end of the cartridge is right behind his hand on the custom grip. The wrinkle that someone stated was the man's shirt seems to be the metal cartridge ribbing.

Something about the darkness in that area. Is there a black blob on the kid's blue shirt? What is that? That blackness can't be a part of the gun, I don't think.

Enlarged the photo and circled the section I found questionable. It looks at though someone's head (hair) is between the shooter's armpit and the butt of the weapon. It looks at if the hair is actually overlapping on the butt. Does anyone else see that?

well...after blowing it up a few times....the gunman's left hand...has a squared off first finger....or he's missing the tip and the doc who removed it used a straight edge and finished it up with spackling compound and some sanding...neat, real neat
