FBI: Approach Missing Egyptians with Caution (UPDATE: see post # 685)
ABCNews ^ | 08/08/06 | Brian Ross

The FBI has issued an urgent nationwide alert for 11 Egyptian students who entered the United States last week but failed to show up for their courses at Montana State University.

An FBI advisory says there are, at present, no known connections to any terrorist group but that the students are to be "approached with caution" and taken into custody. They "are here illegally and wanted for questioning," the advisory says.

The advisory comes just over a month before the five-year anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks on the United States.

"This is of very serious concern and is being closely tracked," said Rep. Peter King (R-NY), Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee.

The FBI says the Egyptians arrived at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York on July 29 and disappeared. The advisory says the alert is nationwide but that there is specific concern the Egyptians may be on the Eastern Seaboard.

According to the advisory the 11 missing Egyptians are:

1. Ibrahim, El Sayed Ahmed Elsayed; DOB OF 4/29/1986.

2. El Dessouki, Eslam Ibrahim Mohamed; DOB OF 02/21/1985.

3. El Bahnasawi, Alaa Abd El Fattah Ali; DOB OF 04/02/1986.

4. Abd Alla, Mohamed Ragab Mohamed; DOB OF 02/15/1984.

5. El Laket, Ahmed Refaat Saad El Moghazi; DOB OF 09/01/1986.

6. El Ela, Ahmed Mohamed Mohamed Abou; DOB OF 02/02/1985.

7. El Moghazy, Mohamed Ibrahim Elsayed; DOB OF 08/08/1986.

8. Abdou, Ebrahim Mabrouk Moustafa; DOB OF 02/25/1984.

9. El Gafary, Moustafa Wagdy Moustafa; DOB OF 07/01/1988.

10.Maray, Mohamed Saleh Ahmed; DOB OF 09/12/1985.

11.El Shenawy, Mohamed Ibrahim Fouaad; DOB OF 08/12/1988.

John Fund wasn't much help at all. He must have gone to the University of Kerry, where the most popular class is "Flippin'Flop". LOL I think Gibson would have asked the right questions if he had been on the ball, so to speak, with this story in the first place.

I dunno. Just to put this in perspective, 9 or 10 days might mean its just a poorly planned spur of the moment roadtrip. The kind college students are notorious for making.

On the other hand, better safe than sorry. And this could be 9/11 all over again in the works.

FBI had best put up pics of the "students."

You would think the FBI has at least one genius who would think to do that.

Sure wish we could see a photo of them.

Stupid as muslims are as a group, it doesn't take that much intellectual camelpower to realize that when in a foreign country illegally, it is best to use an assumed name!

D'OH!

I agree. Give me pictures!

Someone on another thread suggested that the pics couldn't be put up because lawsuits could result. I replied that they could get around that by posting the pictures of these missing students out of concern for their safety. Afterall, 11 students from a foreign country are missing. Shouldn't Greta be all over this? These students' families must be terribly distressed and I'm sure Egypt is incredibly concerned as well for the safety as well.

I know I'm concerned... maybe not for the same reason their parents are concerned... but please, someone POST THE PICTURES

I like Fund's writing alright, but in an interview, he fails to impress.

Off to watch the Roundtable, although it's just not the same without Brit Hume and I can't wait for him to return from vacation.

I'm sure the first thing the FBI did was to see if they'd rented a car, or van. They haven't, or they'd have been located by now. The FBI would know the kind of vehicle and the license plate. The "students" would be stopping in motels and restaurants, and using their credit cards. They aren't. They've disappeared without a trace.

Makes more sense than "studying Montana history."

I've done some research. Based on the limited information releaesed by the FBI, I believe the "students" look quite like this:

I see they are still picking the younger stupid ones to carry out their stuff.

One of the most amazing things I've ever heard of is that they recruit these guys, dope them up on some drug or another (heroin was a favorite) and then cut these guys loose.

Could have. There is also a big story from Pittsburgh today where 4 separate synagogues were sent suspicious packages today. No return addresses, etc. All four were harmless, they turned out to be filled with cd's with Jewish stuff, nothing bad on them. It wasn't reported if the synagogues were expecting such shipments that were received. That would have been a question I would have asked.

The quickest way to Bozeman from Cairo is to take the daily AirEgypt flight to Frankfurt Germany and then get on the daily direct flight to Denver.

What about price? Indirect routes are often hundreds of dollars less expensive.

That should tell us that there were people waiting in the U.S. to help them disappear.

Nice pic.

And, mojito, those are valid points and reason for concern. Let's not panic just yet, though.

And how would they label such photos? *Persons of potentially supposed interest*. If you think you might possibly recognize the generic non-profiling pencil sketch made by their first grade teachers, do NOT attempt to make eye contact or commit any important information to your memory. General descriptions, generic whereabouts, and what they are eating only.
