NRA and Unified Sportsmen Endorse Crist
TALLAHASSEE The National Rifle Association of America and the Unified Sportsmen of Florida yesterday endorsed the campaign of Charlie Crist, Attorney General and candidate for Governor. Citing Crists strong support of law-abiding gun owners and sportsmen, both organizations prefer Crist in the Republican Primary.
No one has been stronger in support of Second Amendment, self-defense, and anti-crime issues than Charlie Crist and we sincerely appreciate your solid pro-sportsmen, pro-Second Amendment, pro-freedom record, said Marion Hammer, NRA past president and Executive Director of Unified Sportsmen of Florida, in a letter to Crist informing him of the endorsements.
Crist has been endorsed by the NRA for every office he has sought since first running for the Florida Senate in 1992. In addition, the NRA last year named Crist the Defender of Freedom and the second Amendment.
I am honored by the support of the NRA and the Unified Sportsmen of Florida, said Crist. I look forward to working with them as Governor to continue protecting the rights of Floridas gun owners.
Your outstanding and unblemished record on issues important to firearms owners and sportsmen stands above all others and is the mark of a true champion of freedom and the Bill of Rights, said Hammer.
This announcement follows endorsements from Senators Mel Martinez and John McCain, Congressmen Mario Diaz-Balart and Jeff Miller, the Police Benevolent Association, the Fraternal Order of Police, the Florida Association of State Troopers and the Associated Builders and Contractors as well as 51 members of the Florida Legislature and 28 county sheriffs. In addition, the Charlie Crist for Governor Campaign has been endorsed by the Broward, Pasco, Bradford, Dixie and Pinellas County Republican Executive Committees.

crist doesn't know jack. there has to be a hidden agenda that has nothing to do with the 2nd amendment.
Jeez
luv is blind.
it's the police unions. every time they get in trouble, Crist covers it up.

Oops.
My dyslexia is kicking in.
My take? I think Gallagher has "seen the light" since his less-than-desirable stances in the past on guns, and that either candidate would be good on this issue at this juncture.
Jeb Bush leaves some pretty big shoes to fill...
Beat me to it. That's a huge endorsement and will seal the deal for a lot of GOP voters. If the NRA felt that Gallagher was sincere in his "transformation" (or whatever you want to call it) then they wouldn't have endorsed during the primary, or they would have endorsed both candidates.
link?
Interesting that this endorsement comes at such a late time in the Primary... the only explaination that I can see is that they are punishing Galagher for a position he may have taken MANY years ago, not how he feels TODAY..... I still support Gallagher !! passing it on..

I still support Gallagher !! ..and I encourage YOU to do so also...passing it on..
Your guy Gallager has premanently lost my vote...I've witnessed too much of his "work".
In other words he was FOR gun control before being AGAINST it. Let's see now....who does that rimind me of?
Which way will the polotical wind be blowing the next time he reverses himself?
If John Mc Cain is for him, then I am not and that goes double for Mel Martinez.
I made a mistake and voted for him in '04 but I won't make that mistake again.
He was also against keeping the vegetable alive.
Good enough for me.
BTTT
And yet your guy does a John Kerry flip-flop, suddenly "getting religion" on gun control when he realized it would buy him some votes.
Gallager seems to be doing the old Bill Clinton "finger in the air" routine to see which way the wind is blowing today, do his chameleon act and make changes in his "core beliefs" based on whether or not it might get him some more votes.
