Yeah, in the Army I was considered overweight at 6'2, 215 pounds. It was noted in my personnel file (what the hell was that called?) that I was ineligible for reenlistment because of this. When I became a short-timer and was being asked to re-up, I was told that that bit of bureaucratic nonsense in my file would be ignored.
I was a junior officer in the early '80s and had to tell many young men that they could not re-enlist if they failed the weight requirements; but I also had to tell them to "pay no attention to the Sergeant Major of the Army", who was a fat old man and revered by the power structure.
