Early last evening, for reasons that I dont recall, I had CNN on. As is the networks wont, the anchor-person was tediously touting CNNs allegedly extraordinary abilities to cover the Israel-Hezbollah war. CNNs long-standing conceit is that while Fox gets better ratings, for hard news there is no place else to go but CNN.
Part of CNNs coverage of the war includes reliance on the local networks of the region. CNN monitors these networks; when they have images of sufficient newsworthiness, CNN passes these images along on a real-time basis. Among the networks CNN relies on for its unique brand of hard news is the Al-Manar network, the network owned and operated by Hezbollah.
In other words, the credulous news gatherers at CNN deem Hezbollah a sufficiently reliable news provider to pass on the organizations coverage without critique, review or commentary. Given that Charles Johnson, Allah and others in the blogosphere have brilliantly shown that even an organization as estimable as Reuters (giggle) has been passing off pro-Hezbollah propaganda as news throughout the war, this seems like a breathtakingly irresponsible move on CNNs part.*
CNNs explanation for this policy? Based in Lebanon, Al-Manar often gets to the scene first. According to this explanation, Al-Manars reliability or lack thereof does not seem to factor into the equation. After this explanation of CNNs rigorous coverage, the network returned to its exhaustive reportage of the human cost of the war. In this case, we looked at the humans hardest hit the Lebanese children.
I didnt stick around long enough to see if all the Israeli children that Hezbollah wants to annihilate merited a mention.

I trust them to be on the side of the Dems.
And the side of the jihadis. Or is that redundant with Dems?
With CNN it has always been just being there. The truth of the matter or the veracity of those providing the information is even less than secondary.
Yep. Eason Jordan admitted as much about having access to Saddam in Iraq prior to the war. And how many CNN reporters over the years have spent time on their knees in front of Castro, much like they are doing for Chavez now?
And as bad as Anderson Cooper is, he's still better than Aaron Brown. LOL
CNN lives in a world where they drink from a river called denial.
I think it's even worse than that. I think many KNOW they are putting out false propaganda, but they think that is their role, to damage America and its storied history.
Perfect. That CNN salary is apparently keeping him well fed.
All one has to see is the whacko philosophy of CNN's founder, ted turner.
Nutso guy starts CNN, and the rest falls in place.
The worst part about CNN is that they have separate programming for overseas. That programming is virulently anti American.
Soon it became Clinton News Network, and now we have Crescent News Network.
This company ought to register as a foreign lobbyist.
And Turner is no differnt or more radical than the editors at Time, The NY Times, Boston Globe, ABC, CBS, the AP, etc etc.

Reuters admits altering Beirut photo --- Reuters withdraws photograph of Beirut after Air Force attack after US blogs, photographers point out 'blatant evidence of manipulation.' Reuters' head of PR says in response, 'Reuters has suspended photographer until investigations are completed into changes made to photograph.' Photographer who sent altered image is same Reuters photographer behind many of images from Qana, which have also been subject of suspicions for being staged ~ http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3286966,00.html

'Which begs the question, BEFORE the internet, just how much did they show and tell us that wasn't true?'
Do you remember that old show, "The Outer Limits"? The MSM controlled all that you saw or heard. Walter Cronkite visited VietNam around the time of the '68 Tet offensive, one of the most decisive victories for the American and So V'Namese military. Cronkite went on TV and told the American people that Nam was "unwinnable" and he and the rest of the American press turned this victory into a loss. Think that could happen today? ~ 77

"They may have brought down public opinion some but fully 35% of the public is aware of their treachery. They can try all they want but they can't succeed unless the internet starts getting regulated."
I don't take much solace in this. The "35%" is essentially the same number who are solid conservatives. This is nothing more than the traditional political split in this country. That being approximately 1/3 Conservative, 1/3 DemocRAT, and 1/3 swing voters with their heads up their A$$. Things have changed with the Internet, but not really. Those who don't want to believe will not despite the facts being beamed at them at the speed of light. ~ 251

OK, now things are getting weird. This Reuters photograph shows blatant evidence of manipulation. Notice the repeating patterns in the smoke; this is almost certainly caused by using the Photoshop clone tool to add more smoke to the image. (Hat tip: Mike.)
Its so incredibly obvious, it reminds me of the faked CBS memos. http://www.freerepublic.com/images/freepathon/fr_britt-vi.jpg
Smoke simply does not contain repeating symmetrical patterns like this, and you can see the repetition in both plumes of smoke. Theres really no question about it.

More doctored photos from Hajj/Reuters? Jawa Report ^ | 8/6/2006
August 06, 2006 Reuters Doctoring Beirut Photos (Updated) Scroll down for updates. The photo below is attributed to Adnan Hajj, of the Reuters news agency. The photo alleges to show smoke covering the Beirut sky. The problem with the photo is that it is that it has been doctored to make it appear that an Israeli missile strike did much more damage than it actually did. Adnan Hajj also took the photos of dead children at Qana. Allegations have arisen that the Qana photos were part of a staged event put on by Hezbollah operatives. There is no doubt... ~ 208 http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1678623/posts?page=208#208
