The story sounds fine,but if the man had struck the kid he would have faced imprisonment fines and a heavy duty lawyers fee. He should know that and the kids DO know that.
The parents of this little turd would have come down on him like an avalanche and pressed charges till hell froze over.
However sometimes one does reach their limit when faced with a situation like this and retribution is swift.

You are right, BUT: having spent a fair amount of time over the past several years working with teenagers, I can also tell you that if they had done something like that to one of their peers, they could expect a pretty serious beatdown, which no amount of legal redress in the future would prevent from happening RIGHT THEN AND THERE! If this adult looked at all likely to back his (expletive) up with force, they would be well aware that they might not be around to profit from the lawsuit afterward. The kids know THAT, as well.

It would have been his word against mine - and I can look real innocent if I want to.
