Hizbullah renews rocket attacks on Israel; houses in Safed, Shlomi area sustain direct hit

Rocket fire renewed: Hizbullah fired a barrage of rockets at northern Israel on Monday morning. A rocket hit a building in Safed. A man was moderately-to-lightly injured. A house in Shlomi sustained a direct hit. A woman was lightly injured and a man was treated for shock. Rockets also fell in open fields in Tiberias, Kiryat Shmona and other communities. A man was lightly injured in Kiryat Shmona.

Sirens have been sounded in communities in the Western Negev, including in Akko and Nahariya. A siren was also sounded in Beit Shean.

On Sunday, three people were killed in a rocket attack on Haifa: Labiba Mazawi, 67 from Haifa, Hana Hamam, 62 from Haifa and Ronny Robinsky, 30 from Kiryat Motzkin.

Ynet has learnt that a 84-year-old woman died of a heart attack when the rockets slammed into Haifa.

Dozens of people were treated for shock. Hospitals in the city declared a mass injury situation.

Police chief Moshe Karadi visited rocket landing sites in Haifa on Monday. Residents complained of the lack of bomb shelters. "Terror doesn't differentiate between the Jewish and Arab sector and hits citizens because they are citizens of the State of Israel," he told residents.

A local sapper told Karadi about the hits. One resident told him that the building which was hit neighbors celebrate Christian, Jewish and Muslim holidays. "As I can see, against estimations and feelings here last week that is no longer in danger, Haifa remains in the line of fire." Karadi urged residents to be vigilant.

"We call on residents to act according to instruction issued by the Home Front Command. If there are questions they should be directed to those firing rocket at civilian populations. The State of Israel will do all to stop these incidents. There is no doubt this is a difficult period," he said.

Residents woke up to scenes of destruction: cars, houses and building.

"The situation is unbelievable. Before a rocket fell near me and hit the balcony of my neighbor, I never believed it will get here. It is scary and very difficult," said Naim Khoury.

Khouri sent his family away from Haifa: "I sent my children and my wife there…I can’t live because I fear I'd get robbed. I am not sure it is not safe in Haifa because it is not safe anywhere except for Tel Aviv and Jerusalem."

Khoury complained of the lack of shelters: "The nearest shelter is 15 minutes from here. How can a woman with a little child or baby reach a shelter?"

Well, it looks as though my daughter won't be able to return to her home any time soon.

I told her that she should come back to the U.S. and stay with us until this is over, she is still waiting for a U.S. passport for her baby. She applied for one and the idiots at the U.S. Consulate in Jerusalem mailed it to Safed instead of holding for her to pick up at the Consulate!!!
