BERLIN (Reuters) - Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told European leaders to stop preaching to him about civilian war casualties in an interview published on Sunday in German newspaper Welt am Sonntag.

Olmert also said it would not be possible to completely destroy Hizbollah and insisted he did not underestimate them, saying they had fired just 3,000 of their arsenal of 15,000 rockets so far. PHOTOS

"Where do they get the right to preach to Israel?" Olmert said when asked about criticism from European capitals of Israeli military operations that have led to a heavy civilian toll.

"European countries attacked Kosovo and killed ten thousand civilians. Ten thousand! And none of these countries had to suffer before that from a single rocket.

"I'm not saying it was wrong to intervene in Kosovo. But please: Don't preach to us about the treatment of civilians."

Kosovo became a U.N. protectorate in June 1999 after a 78-day NATO bombing campaign forced out Serb security forces accused of atrocities against Albanian civilians during a rebel insurgency by separatist Albanian guerrillas.

The New York-based Human Rights Watch estimates about 500 civilians were killed in the NATO bombing in Kosovo.

Some 10,000 Albanians died in Serbia's 1998-99 counter-insurgency war and there were allegations of random brutality by both sides.

One correction Mr. Olmert: it WAS WRONG to attack Serbia when she conducted counter-insurgency operations against Islamic terrorists. You suffer due to that fact now.

Go IDF!

"Olmert:European countries attacked Kosovo and killed ten thousand civilians"

Alternative, more-correct headline:

BREAKING NEWS: "Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert Grows A Spine, Finds His Cajones." (Bravo, Ehud!)

There; that's more accurate...

Is it 10,000 or 500 that NATO killed? Seems like big differences of opinion on that in this article.

Mr Olmert was confusing the deaths caused by the Serbs (~10,000 est.) with the deaths casued by NATO (~500 est.).

Explaine this: / 14th century Kosovo church robbed 6 August 2006 | Source:Beta Send your comment OBILIĆ -- Unidentified persons broke into the church, robbing and desecrating it, in a Serb village of Babin Most near Obilić. The thieves broke in last night around midnight after smashing the windows on the back side of the church, which also houses the parochial home in its immediate surroundings. The St Stefan fresco was taken from the church along with 50 000 dinars in contributions, the priests’ habits and ritual objects, while some ten frescoes and icons were destroyed and found smashed on the floor. “I heard nothing. We noticed that the church was robbed about seven this morning”, father Stevan Marković said and added that the damage was difficult to assess. Kosovo police service was at the scene and started an investigation, but would not communicate any details. The Church of the Holy Mother of God (Presveta Bogorodica) was built in the 14th century and is one of the oldest Serb churches in central Kosovo.

Mr. Olmert is obviously mistaken.

If you choose to back his mistake, well, you're welcome to it.

It wouldn't be the first time you've backed other's mistakes long after they've lost any chance of being credible.

The primary reason the press downplayed (or in many cases, ignored) the thousands of innocent civilian casualties in Kosovo caused by U.S./Allied bombing was simply the fact that a Democrat was the President at the time, and the MSM was simply looking out for their man. The secondary reason is that we were waging war against a Christian country and helping Muslims/terrorists.

If instead a Republican President were in office at the time and the war was conducted in exactly the same manner the MSM would've taken every opportunity to emphasize the civilian dead, and we'd have been inundated with stories/pics of dead women and children non-stop.

Serbia was the first nation to engage Al Queda during the conflicts of the 1990s. The United States thanked Serbia by attacking Serbia instead of the KLA.

Absolutely.

No UN mandate, no congressional approval. BJ Clintoon just decided to bomb them from 15,000 feet.

Bombed Christians, to let muslims win.

EU helped.

Clinton just went to war, on his own.

During that time I was visiting Poland from Sweden. The night I returned to Sweden on board a Polish ferry, I went to the restaurant to get dinner. Only a handful Swedes were there also, and then I went to bed. Next morning arriving at the Swedish port Ystad, there were suddenly hundreds of muzzie refugees at the gangway to get on shore in Sweden. That has made the 3rd. largest city in Sweden, Malmo now having approximately 30% muzzie population, thanks to Clintoon!!!

Well of course. As a matter of fact, if I hadn't had the foresight to have Milosevic's public prosecutor use HRW's ~500 number in the Serbian indictment of NATO, I wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

LOL.
