the WOT won't be won without regime change in Iran

Agreed whole heartedly!

But now-a-days in our new(Dem/rat inspired) environment of milquetoast, PC inspired wars how do you get an army of CIA types working in unison with Iranian locals big enough or well funded enough to get that job done? And without upsetting the world wide oil distribution system which is so key to the economic survival of the world yet located in the area.

Bush's "axis of evil" characterization was a start on a par with RR's "evil empire." Overtly, we need a Congressional resolution calling for regime change in Iran. We should also appropriate money to Iranian groups outside the country who favor regime change. Covertly, we should supply the money and other material support to opposition groups within Iran. We should do whatever is necessary to destablize the regime short of attacking and invading Iran.

The best possible outcome for us is a new revolution in Iran arising from the people. We need to distance ourselves from that process so that the new government has some legitimacy and not be seen as puppets of the US.

The worst thing we can do is make deals with the current government, which only strengthens them. Personally, I don't like the carrots that the US and EU are offering the regime to stop their enrichment of uranium. I hope the offer falls through and we apply sanctions against Iran even outside the UN framework.
