I suggest the writer move to N. Korea. Nice and dark there at night. Light is a sign of a technologically advanced civilization.
I hate to take the part of a Leftist but the article has its points. l7 years ago, we moved into a rural area of KY. The night was wonderful, dark and deep. Now, the blasted yard lights blaze so bright that we have to pull shades to have a dark bedroom. When snow is upon the ground, I can literally read a news paper at night by the reflected glow of neighbors' yard lights.
Let me assure you, dope deals don't go down in total darkness. The metalic glow of your vapor lamps encourage the beasts. The darkness of my yard is forboding to crooks, or so it seems. They have left me alone while plundering my neighbors; the ones with the lights.
