Let me ask you. Would you welcome all night loud parties next door to your home? No, it would interfere with your right to enjoy your property, and that is a reasonable purpose to have noise regulations.

I don't welcome all night bright lights next door to my property, because it interferes with my right to enjoy my property. No difference.

If you keep your light to yourself, have at it. Just don't shine it in the direction of my telescopes.

New laws to go into effect: Light trespassing ping

You're actually making the illogical comparison between all-night parties and your inability to look through a small telescope? Our second neo-luddite surfaces.

Your question seeks to side step the fact that you wish to legislate behavior that effects a miniscule minority based on unscientific assumptions of "harm to environment" and "minority rights"

All night parties and mis-directed flood lights are not illogical comparisons. The analogy between unwanted sound energy and unwanted visible light is not a great leap.

However, maybe you would prefer use the analogy of unwanted RF interfering with radio or TV reception - this is banned by the FCC. Now the only difference is the wavelength involved.

As for the size of my small telescope - wait a minute, just how big is/are my telescope(s)? I suspect you don't have a clue - let's keep to the facts we know, shall we? Seems you're guilty of assuming facts not in evidence.

Let's see, what else? Oh yeah, a Luddite agitated against technology he didn't appreciate or understand, perhaps they would have hated telescopes, as the once new technology was applied to astronomy.

As for minority rights - are you seriously suggesting that the right to use my private property as I see fit without hindrance is a minority opinion? My, my.

By the way, I accept your apology for admitting your other mistake of indicating I introduced communism to this discussion - I don't see how that even applies, communism is centralized economic planning.

So, can we agree that you will be courteous enough to try not to flood my yard with unwanted light and I'll be couteous enough to try not to fart upwind of you?
