Are you people just saying this just to see who can top who.

Where are you getting the idea that you cant have lights?

let me help you out in English.

A) Point you beloved light towards your house since your light is meant to protect your property.

B) Shield it so the PRIVATE PROPERTY owners next door do not have to be forced to be blinded by your lights. Last time I checked thats called common curiosity. Sadly it's something thats no longer a conservative value to too many people here.

It has nothing to do with telescopers' rights or privileged whiners. It's called respect for places that are not your own.

I thought the article was about "urban sky glow", not common courtesy between neighbors.

I guess the sky belongs to all of us. I don't want jets flying through it because the contrails reduce the amount of sunlight that warms my house in the winter, therefore I have to pay for more gas. Lets outlaw jets.
