Through the years on the Dose, we have seen hundreds of photos of the President and First Lady with children, but no photo more powerfully speaks to his deep concern for children than this: So as not to frighten the kids, a stunned President Bush remains in the classroom to collect himself shortly after White House Chief of Staff Andy Card notified him that a second plane has struck the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.
President Bush watches as Daniella Wald, 12, lights one of the candles on the Menorah Wednesday, Dec 4 in the White House. President Bush presented one of the lighted candles to Daniella Wald, who lit the first three candles, and she presented the lighter candle to her sister, Alexandra Wald, 15, who lit the other three. Both of the girls are from Manhattan, and their father, Victor Wald, was killed in the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center.

And .. he also waited until his staff could gather more information about the event before speaking to the world.
Unlike the dems who run around saying "the sky is falling" - details at 11 - the President used common sense and waited to find out what was really going on!
What a photo. I am not sure I have seen this one before--it certainly isn't as well known as the one where Andy Card is whispering in his ear. It is difficult to look at this photo--so much of all of our lives were changed that day--and we really had no idea what was in store. I am so thankful for GWB's leadership.
