Sounds like a bureaucratically connect beverage distributor in Indian found a way to use the local courts to get rid of the most popular drinks in the entire world. Smart. Not in the long run, but I'm sure the sales of curry cola are going to spike in the near term.

Calm down.
India has had a command economy for decades. And they can't seem to loosen up.
They torpedoed the Doha talks for WTO by remaining staunchly protectionist.
India is getting wealthier in spite of itself, but don't try to paint this as a country of a bunch of rich people.
That's false and you know it.
Growing faster than a european economy in percentage terms is no big feat when europe sucks, and India is barely at the starting gate.

In related news Jesse Jackson just returned to the US following a presentation before the Indian Economic Council. Next week he'll fly to Narobi to open the first Nigerian Telemarketing and Finance Expo 06.

The Cubans, naturally. The '57 Chevy will have been made in the US. Who know's where India's 3-wheel contraptions are made?

India does have a strong socialist tradition, and had ties with the USSR. While India is rapidly developing, it is not progressing as fast as China, which is a Communist country. One has representative government, but a restricted economy, the other has a restricted government, but a more capitalist economy.

I'm not saying that India is communist, and that was an overcharacterization on my part. But it is a government-planned economy, a failed model, and they've not shed it yet.
There are plenty of commies in India, but there are plenty of commies in Europe, too.
They're here in America as well, but they go under different labels.

India is one of the larger economies
by GDP and is growing faster than many other developing countries. Also, they were far from alone in opposing the United States over Doha. The leader of the developing world opposition was Brazil, not India. And even the developed Western Europeans were somewhat opposed to the United States.
P.S. India should open up its economy to more foreign trade, but considering many Americans are against outsourcing to places such as India it is understandable that the Indians would be against products and services from the United States and other countries, too.
To: Dog Gone
You could just as easily have gotten a more classier picture of India. India is still developing, and many people are aware of that. There is no need to rub it in.

Hehehe! It looks like those contraptions were built in somebody's back yard!

You've got to be kidding. There's no restriction on outsourcing to India from the US. My own company has a HUGE organization in India doing outsource work.
India needs to quit thinking that government knows best how to control everything in the economy.
Of course, when that happens, we'll have Freepers complaining about India just like they complain about China all the time.
India will wise up eventually. They're already taken some steps.
And you're right, Doha died not just because of the Indians. America came from a different angle and said that a bad deal was worse than no deal at all.

Revealing the content is not the same as revealing the formula. I know restaurants that make good dishes that we know the ingredients but not the process or ratios of the ingredients. Anyhow, Dr Pepper has Polyethylene glycol which is polymerized ethylene glycol and was included on the label but recently removed. I can only assume do to the antifreeze rumors.

All 3 soda companies in their main brands have also stopped pretending to use sugar instead of corn syrup... they used to say Surgar and/or corn syrup.
who were they kidding?

OK... I give up.
Where's the "Onion" Logo?
Why can't the Indians just analyze a sample and identify everything?
Give a sample to Abby (NCIS) and she can identify everything within an hour.

Walmart has the bottle Cokes from Mexico that uses sugar instead of corn syrup. You can tell the difference on the first sip. Coke likes to use corn syrup because of the cost, it produces so many bottles just one penny can spell millions of dollars and over the years translates in to billions of dollars. I find it ironic that the US taxpayer subsidizes Coke through the corn subsidies.
To: Orange1998
corn syrup has artificially low prices and sugar is artificially high in the US because of government intervention
