A homosexual-activist police officer assigned to security at a Promise Keepers men's conference in Florida is being investigated for threatening members of a Christian organization petitioning for a state constitutional marriage amendment.

"I have never in my life seen such unprofessional and bizarre behavior from a law enforcement officer," said John Stemberger, the president and general counsel of the Florida Family Policy Council.

"This kind of ridiculous harassment and intimidation was meant to thwart the effort to protect marriage in Florida. It should remind all of us that we are engaged in a culture war. …"

My letter to Chief Boyett

Dear Police Chief Boyett,
I am writing to you to express my outrage at the conduct of police officers with the Sunrise City Police Department. I am shocked that police officers would abuse the power of their position when interacting with the Florida4Marriage Organization. You need to discipline the officers involved. They denied fellow American citizens their rights under the law when they choose to abuse the power of being police officers. Please remember that heterosexual Police Officers have many times stood to protect the rights of Gay Men during parades and demonstrations. For these gay officers not to be able to do the same for people they disagree with is a blatant expression of discrimination. "These are not law enforcement officers who happen to be homosexual, these are gay activists who have a badge and choose to abuse the power of their position." They need to be immediately reprimanded and disciplined. They need to attend sensitivity training about having tolerance for other people’s opinions. They need to be disciplined for making up laws. I am outraged.
