MOSUL, Iraq - Ten people, including three Iraqi policemen, were
killed on Friday by a suicide bomber in Hadhar, a town 55 miles
south of Mosul, a police source told Reuters.
The attack took place on a sports field and wounded 12 people,
including nine policemen, who were patrolling the area.
It followed clashes in Mosul between insurgents and Iraqi and
U.S. forces, and a car bombing which killed one of the city's
senior police officers.

US General: Iraq Could Slide to Civil War
By Al Pessin
Pentagon
03 August 2006
The commander of all U.S. forces in the Middle East told Congress Thursday that militants are trying to push Iraq into civil war, but he also said he believes the Iraqi government and military can prevent that if they have strong international support.
During a lengthy and sometimes heated discussion between senior defense department officials and members of the Senate Armed Services Committee, General John Abizaid painted a stark picture of the situation in Baghdad.
"I believe that the sectarian violence is probably as bad as I've seen it in Baghdad in particular, and that if not stopped it is possible that Iraq could move toward civil war," he said. "Al-Qaida terrorists, insurgents and Shia' militia militants compete to plunge the country into civil war. It is a decisive time in Baghdad and it requires decisive Iraqi action with our clear support."

interesting thing. Hezbollah have not
committed their troops yet," he says.

Islamic group: 200 militants sent to bomb 'Israel's vital interests'
By Reuters
JAKARTA - More than 200 Islamic militants from Southeast Asia have been sent on missions to bomb Israel's "vital interests" and countries that support the Jewish state, their leader said on Friday.
The militants have been trained to carry out suicide bombings to avenge Israel's military strikes on the Palestinian territories and Lebanon, said Suaib Didu, chairman of the Jakarta-based ASEAN Muslim Youth Movement.

"More than 3,000 people have signed up for the mission, and 217 people from Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore have been dispatched abroad so far, he said."
