"Stickiness."

Thank you for setting me straight. I had no idea: I guess I'm out of that loop.

:-)

She said FReepers are in the minority mindset.

Did a Republican or Democrat win the White House in 2000?

Did a Republican or Democrat win the White House in 2004?

If I remember correctly, a Democrat hasn't won the White House since 1996! Ten full years!

I'm disappointed that they didn't mention any of our Rachel Corrie graphics.

She said the liberals didn't protest the bombing of Kosovo because it wasn't "hip" .

Sander Hicks, what a sad case.

He's the loser that started "Soft Skull Press". In 2000 he published the book written by the felon that alledged that W was a cokehead back in the day.

Seems like he was considered some kind of whiz kid a few years back, now it appears, he spends his days lurking here at FR.

In April 2004 she was selected as #99 on Comedy Central's list of the 100 greatest standups of all time. (from her Wikipedia writeup)

LOL, I doubt if I could name 20 standups, wouldn't you just have to show up to make number 99?

Media Schadenfreude and Media Shenanigans PING

No transcript, but I did transcribe some responses to her statements.

She says that we (conservatives) "do not want a level playing field". Is that the role of government? To institute racial and sexual preferences? To institute Marxism "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs"? Who decides inequity? When Hispanics become the majority population in a state or city, are they still due quotas and special programs? Will there ever be a day when white people would be elligible for those same programs? Or are we born with "original sin" and unworthy of taxpayer funded programs?

She makes the claim that the "antiwar movement" is not a lefty fringe. (A) It is not a peace movement, overwhelmingly they are PRO-Palestinian War and some are vocal enough to even give support for suicide bombings and (B) the Communist ties to the backing organizations of the protests are undeniable. There may be useful idiot housewives and college (and now high school) kids getting caught up in the agit prop but they hardly reflect the base.

The host makes the statement that there is "little substance" (to the war). Jeanine has confessed that it "wasn't hip to protest Clinton" (specifically his wars). So since she isn't standing on principle, I'll ignore the rest of the war discussion (the topic was abandoned in the clip after tossing a few barbs anyway).

She says that the people on FR are unstable (DU anyone? DailyKOS?).

She says we are "morally tethered to nothing" (except religion, the Constitution, and traditional principles of right and wrong).

She then mentions the "stickiness" of how long FReepers may stay at the site. It could also be called media research and investigation. If we got the straight dope from the mass media, we wouldn't have to do our own followup to the day's headlines, but a pajama person's work is never done. Sticky wheel gets the grease. I guess she's still upset that Dan Rather's hoax was uncovered and Bush won re-election.

She says that this site thrives on assertions, sound bites, and talking points. To this I say, lying effin' ***t. We'd never get to 200 posts with followups from numerous posters if that was all the content was here. Letters to the editor of any daily newspaper are edited down to "assertions, sound bites, and talking points". This is a dialogue. We hash out the details to come to a better understanding of a story and how it is playing across the nation. We also read stories that only get regional or limited coverage. It's not all political here. We aren't consumed.

She mentions another site and says "Buzzflash is about news". I never heard of it. At least she didn't mention "Indymedia". I wondered why she didn't mention DU but on second thought, we don't deserve comparison to those barking moonbats. Looking at Wikipedia, this is the full entry:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BuzzFlash

"BuzzFlash is a political and news website based in Chicago, Illinois, USA. The site is considered to be a liberal version of the Drudge Report. The site has advocated the impeachment of George W. Bush."

We respond to the news articles on FR. If we only consumed and never questioned, then we WOULD be passive and only existing on sound bites and pre-chewed news.

She says that we are "very Darwinian" in our thinking. Well then it is "human nature" and if the homosexual activists have "taught" us anything, it is that we supposedly cannot "change" human nature.

If this is what it takes to get the media to troll FR so be it. It puts them on notice.

The host admits to trolling FR recently and refers to the Rachel "Currie" incident (by the way, she hardly "just died", that story is YEARS old, her parents met with Arafat afterwards). I googled FR for the thread he referred to and I cannot find the quote he cited:

Your search - site:www.freerepublic.com "darwin is not nice" - did not match any documents.

Suggestions:
Make sure all words are spelled correctly.
Try different keywords.
Try more general keywords.
Try fewer keywords.

Was it a convenient lie or a misquote of FR? With the media, it is difficult to tell.

And then in the interview, the name calling starts. There are a lot of violent antisemites on the left, (not so) little lady. Ever get a look at La Raza's protest banners? What a bigot. And the 2004 election saw a lot of SCARY ugly behavior from Democrats.

I remember when Larry King ruled talk radio and his program was on in the middle of the night. Pat Sajak had a talk show and took a vacation. A California talk show host sat in for a week and the Act Up fools made such a mess of the program (in the audience) that he was forced to clear the studio to complete his apolitical interview. That guest host was Rush Limbaugh and he upset the apple cart. Larry King and his callers attacked Rush, saying it was all a publicity stunt.

FR today upsets the apple cart of the mass media. We've exposed their lies. Manufactured news. We aren't talking simple bias in reporting perspective. We are talking a denial of bias and a complete fabrication of photos, quotes, and witnesses.

Jeanine, it is only going to get worse for your side.

If she says FReepers eat their own....she has a point.

She didn't even go there.

Sean Hannity and others observed that during 2004. Then again, the troll activity does increase during elections.

And I've seen some September 2001 sleeper cell accounts on FR get activated and shut down this year. So signup date is no indication of frequency of use.

Dang -- good analysis.

I wish there was a MSM outlet that would publish your thoughts. They are clearer than JG and certainly more cogent.

Some things about being a Liberal: You don't need facts and you don't need internal consistency.

They say so many things yet so little in that interview.

And none of her assertions are challenged in the interview. It is a clever bit of propaganda to smear this site.

She used the word FReep but never discussed FReeps, what they are (rallies or voting in a poll), and why they matter (or don't). Just used a buzzword and moved on.

As to the online poll activity, everyone does it. Rats influence the visibility of stories on Yahoo News by voting up/down stories on the war, abortion, etc. DUmmies will out a FReep of a poll while insisting that it is okay to DUmp on that same poll. MSNBC even posted an "editorial comment" linking back to an FR FReep This Poll thread when one of their polls didn't go their way (Are you a Bush Basher?).

MSNBC didn't care that Omar Chouhardy (one of the men stopped in that Florida toll roll bomb threat case) had ISLAMmed one of their polls with other Muslims to place Mohammed as the world's most popular philosophical figure (the activity came up when I googled his name as the story broke, the forum thread where he boasted of his activity no longer exists on his college's servers).

So if she takes issue with FReeping polls, she is petty and establishing a double standard. If she is referring to the FReeper rallies, then she is opposing our public activism. I guess we aren't permitted to gather and stand our ground.

Little despot.
