I guess he'll have to buy 20 corvettes to replace it. And still go 187 mph.

Yeah but gas was cheap then... My truck was loaded pretty good, (see #136) I think we got about 11mpg on that trip overall, but she only drove for about 3 hours around Sacramento.
Actually this was just after I rebuilt a good motor for it, on a different road trip I had just got 17 mpg over 200 miles on a flat stretch through New Mexico holding it steady at 65mph. Damn good for this year truck with big tires and 3.73 gears!
To: durasell
100 MPH is a high rate of speed. It's also an extremely dangerous speed. Speed is a relative term. The astronauts orbit the Earth at 15,000 mph. If you jump off a tall building, you will hit a terminal velocity of about 120 mph, and be okay.
What is a "good" speed?

Maybe there were road conditions that contributed or something. *shrug*It sounds like the driver didn't drive the course prior to the race.

there are lots of stories like this. these guys are loaded with cash, they buy these cars and can't drive them, and they wreck them. I have read about several fatalities of owners of the Carrera GT.

I gave my wife a ride in the 57 Corvette the weekend that I met her through the streets of Santa Barbara at 150 mph after we had won the SCCA race and we got married in 58!

100 mph is not screaming. It could be if you're in 2nd gear :-)

I'm a big believer in speed laws.I am too. But they're much too high. They should be cut in half. I'll save gas driving my old 1964 Shelby AC Cobra.

It's also an extremely dangerous speedDepends on the context. On a city street - sure true insanity. On a straight expressway with little other traffic not dangerous at all except the main danger is getting a very expensive ticket.

In 1957 there isn't a cop that could have caught me, they didn't have helicopters back then.

In 1957 there isn't a cop that could have caught me, they didn't have helicopters back then. They had radios. I've gotten my #2 current ride up to 138 (just long enough for it to set the GPS) and the car was willing to go for more but I chickened out.

Probably the most common view of an Enzo, if you see one at all.

That's just loping for a Ferrari. This guy needn't apply to run white lightning in Florida. Yep... it was just starting to clear its sparkplugs and wake up. This guy should've spent some of his $$$ on attending a performance driving school.
To: Howie66
I don't think so, the was no young girl killed or a bridge nearby.
