On ‘O'Reilly,' Giuliani's Talk Is Tough on Iran

Mayor Giuliani said last night that America must retain a military option for dealing with Iran's nuclear program.
During a nationally televised appearance on Fox News's "The O'Reilly Factor," Mr. Giuliani, who is considering a run for the White House in 2008, said it would be "extremely dangerous" for Iran to have nuclear capability.
"I don't think you can take the military option off the table," he said. "You don't have to wave that flag, but you have to leave that there as a possibility."
In a swipe at the Democratic Party, which often finds itself attempting to shore up its national security credentials, the former mayor said having an American president that is viewed as "so much of an internationalist they'll never exercise that option" would not be good for the country.
Mr. Giuliani, who has become a household name since leading the city after the attacks of September 11, 2001, also said that Israel should be given time to "destroy Hezbollah as much as possible."
When the program's notoriously aggressively host, Bill O'Reilly, asked why so many Americans oppose the Iraq war, Mr. Giuliani defended it and said having Sunnis, Shiites, and Kurds putting a government together is an accomplishment.
Mr. O'Reilly said he agreed with Mr. Giuliani on Israel and Iran, but seemed to bait him to the right when the conversation turned to immigration.

I saw the interview and while I know Rudy is a smart man, I was really amazed just how ignorant O'Reilly is about current events.

Indeed! Anyone who says Bush creates terrorists has no clue whatsoever about the rise of Radical Islam.

Oh but wait - we can't vote for Rudy - he's pro-choice, and pro-immigrant,
BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH
At some point - the anti-Rudy crowd is going to understand that we need a leader who leads first - and follows poles second.
RUDY GETS IT? Uh yeh - he lived it - remember?
Rudy makes McCain, George Allen, and the rest of our team look like small fries.
I'm for the man - I like him.

Thank God is right. Rudi never once wavered about the root cause and never once tried to even suggest that America is at fault. It's totally a radical Islam problem that we are facing and must be dealt with head on!

The Rudy issue demonstrates what is really wrong with American politics. The Mayor has shown that he is a leader time and time again. We know that he can make tough decisions and that he is a long term thinker. He would make a great President.
Yet, because his views on gun control, immigration, and abortion are "wrong",Conservatives hate him and will stay home probably. At the same time, nut jobs like Tancredo who has never managed a thing, will rally the troops and get the vote. This is the guy that thought he could bring peace to the world by nuking Mecca!A proven leader, don`t think so, but, he would get a ton of support.
We accuse the Rats of being the party of special interests, but lots of conservatives need to have a reality check.

That's why, if Rudi were to somehow get the nomination, I would be delighted to support him because IMO the war against militant Islam is the most important issue of our time. It is in the area of foreign policy and in his position as CIC that the POTUS has his most direct influence on the policies of the United States. As you can see from my tagline, I am very pro-life, but, until that wing of Islam is defeated, the US will not be secure. I also think the selection of judges is very important, but somehow I trust a "law and order" guy like Rudi to nominate judges who do not try to legislate from the bench. I know his pro-gun stance calls that into question, but I really can't see him trying to overturn the Second Amendment. If you consider what Jimmy Carter was able to do to the military in just four years (not to mention the eight years of Clinton), it is imperative that the next POTUS be a strong CIC committed to the GWOT.

Talk is cheap.
GWB was very tough on Iran, Syria, et al right after 9/11. Action against these terrorist-loving states, however, has been notably lacking.
