This was an argument we could have won.

No way. We lost it even though we gave in. Last week a mover threw it in my face that right wing
Republicans didn't want to reauthorize the votein act. i finally reminded him that it ws Republicans who voted it in in the first place and it ws Republicans who reauthorized it.

The "Republicans" (not the conservatives) were the ones who put this in in the first place. It has outlived its usefulness. We will never win if we don't have the debate.

Like it or not, when someone becomes President of the United States, some thing do change. They see an entire different picture than they saw before. There are so many things more important at this time in our country.

I could agree, but your argument, and undoubtedly his, is not a valid excuse. It is whining. It goes to character.

As Christ said in Luke 16, v. 10:

"He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much; and he that is unjust in the least is also unjust in much."

So, using your own terms..."like it or not" some things never change. Philosophy,if rightly founded, should not. We have seen the White House's bent on "moderation" constantly undercut any progress for even things which it claims it wants to do...and only we conservatives have time, after time, after time, shown the strength to do what needs doing for righteousness to prevail. It is time for this administration to recognize that it is out of step. And its dupliciotous betrayal is not going unnoticed where it really counts....and will not be forgiven. The Bushes, being lukewarm, will be spewed out of our mouths.

They will not be henceforth allowed to interfere in the Party selection process. They will not have a role in any future Presidential nomination. Their influence must be cut off at the root. Their malign instincts, brought out from under the rocks they hide under, and put on display for the entire Base to see.
