Olmert Backs Down on Post War Retreat
Olmert: War has nothing to do with realignment
After causing a stir in interview to news agencies, Prime minister forced to explain to MK Effie Eitam that 'there is no connection between fighting in Lebanon, future diplomatic moves'
Ilan Marciano
Following the stir caused by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert 's remarks, that the victory in Lebanon will provide a momentum for the realignment, his aides decided Wednesday evening to soften the harsh criticism and urgently searched for Knesset Member Effie Eitam (National Union-National Religious Party).
"The fighting in Lebanon has nothing to do with future diplomatic moves in other arenas," Olmert clarified in a conversation with Eitam.
MK Eitam later told Ynet: "He understood that he made a mistake. He realized that he truly harmed the national unity."

It really jumped out at me that the term "homicide bomb" was used.
Imagine if media could and would speak truth.
Yeah, I know...
"It is reported that the city of Detroit already has twenty-five buses designated for the August 12 event, and cities across the nation are making similar preparations to send thousands of people to Washington."
Just got here..trying to catch up..who said that?

Dina Ezzat observes Egyptian diplomacy changing tactics on the Lebanese crisis
The arrival of Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul-Gheit in Lebanon for talks with senior Lebanese political figures yesterday morning marked a growing shift in the Egyptian position on the Israeli war on Lebanon.
On the 21st day of the brutal Israeli aggression that has massacred innocent civilians, the top Egyptian diplomat, who has on the one hand criticised Hizbullah's miscalculations while rebuking Israel for its offensive on the other, announced unprecedented official sympathy with the Lebanese people who have until now expressed dismay with the stand taken by Cairo over their plight.
Cairo, Abul-Gheit told reporters in Beirut, was working hard to secure "an end to hostilities. "Egypt has always been on the side of Lebanon and the Lebanese people," Abul-Gheit affirmed in a tone appealing to angry Lebanese journalists who volleyed questions about Cairo's weak support for Lebanon.
Oh.......good grief...did you or anyone just hear Charlie Rangel on Cavuto??
Rangel says that it is BUSH'S fault that Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan haven't VOLUNTEERED to put troops in Lebanon to DEFEAT Hezbollah!
Also...he just said that what is happening in GITMO is just as bad as Castro has been in Cuba!!!! He said he doesn't know "how many people have been killed in Gitmo compared to Cuba"....and that Castro's Cuba isn't that bad.
Try as I might...the only reaction I see Pat Buchanan having to this news is one of chuckling..
placemark
Rangle is just disgraceful. I hit the mute button. Thanks for taking a hit for the troops :)
