Interesting this is happening now after Bin Laden's son was only released yesterday. Wonder where he was really headed for?

BTW harwood- thanks for all the links you post- excellent work!

Where are you living, they have been doing this for the last 36 hours.

Overwhelming force is not six brigades (although i will admit conflicting reports suggest more IDF are in southern lebanon), and 3 weeks after the start of the conflict is a little slow in my books, but i suppose better late than never (just don't tell that to the families of the 6 Israelis that died today).

Saudi Shias demonstrate: ‘Oh beloved Hezbollah, destroy Tel Aviv’

From Al-Jazeera:

Saudi Shias in pro-Hezbollah march

More than 2,000 Saudi Muslim Shias are reported to have joined a protest march in the country’s Eastern Province to denounce Israel’s military onslaught against Lebanon, the second rare protest this week.

Residents said up to 2,000 people took part in a march late on Tuesday in the eastern city of al-Qatif while hundreds more marched in the neighbouring town of al-Awamiya.

A Shia website carried photographs of the protesters, which included Saudi women and children, bearing pictures of Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and the group’s yellow flag. It said Lebanese expatriates also took part.

The website quoted the protesters as saying: "Not Sunnis, not Shias - it’s one Islamic unity. Oh beloved Hezbollah, destroy Tel Aviv!"

Public protests are banned in Saudi Arabia, which sees itself as the bastion of Sunni Islam, and the Saudi media have not reported the Shia demonstrations.

One resident said the marchers dispersed peacefully. The man said: "There was a light security deployment monitoring the marches."

Shias say a heavy police deployment prevented them from staging similar protests over a week ago, but dozens of Saudi Shias managed to hold protests on Sunday in the same areas.

Officials from the Saudi interior ministry declined to comment.

it might explain why Rumsfeld didn't want to mess with testifying today

Or it could be that he doesn't relish, yet again, trying to explain things to people like Senator Reed, who either do not want to understand or are incapable of it.

have they been particularly nasty to Rummy today??

Not until they got to Reed, who put me in mind of the saying "Senator, I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you."

A son of Osama bin Laden has gone from Iran to Lebanon with the mission to organize terror attacks against Israel, it was reported yesterday. Saad bin Laden, 27, one of the terror mastermind's eldest sons, was released by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard last Friday, according to the German daily Die Welt. "From the Lebanese border, he has the task of building Islamist terror cells and preparing them to fight with Hezbollah," the paper said, quoting intelligence sources. "Apparently, Tehran is counting on recruiting Lebanese refugees in Syria for the fight against Israel, using bin Laden's help," it added. The young bin Laden was supposedly under house arrest in Iran.
