Die Welt said the Iranian Revolutionary Guard released Saad bin Laden on July 28 with the aim of sending him to the Syria-Lebanon border.

As if somehow he's BraveHeart and is going to rally the troops. What a joke.

Thank you, Karl.

I'm going to be out most of the day, hair cut and massage day. Yay!!!

I'll probably spend all night trying to catch up. :-/

Prayers for the safety of our troops and the coalition in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere. Prayers for the brave and capable Israeli soldiers.

(May they survive the amorous attentions of American freeper ladies. ;-)

My thoughts - News of Hizbullah's reannouncement of intent to hit TelAviv and Chinese govt telling
everyone to get out of Isrel within all reported within an hours time span. That's an awfully fast turn
around time for the Chinese govt don't you think, unless of course they knew something in advance.

All kinds of math comes in to play in this type calculation, how long reports from one source take to get to you, versus another source, and how long those same reports take to get to decision makers, such as the Chinese, in comparison.

We're talking about a vewry significant development here, the odds that this conflict are likely to expand to include Iran and Syria, and most likely Iraq and the US and Britian.

That's a big step, and even though I may be trending in that direction, it will take a lot for me to publicly state that I believe regional expansion is more likely than not.

Specific points of data support are useful for distributing an idea of the types of calculations now in play, but are meaningless in actual calculation. Right now I can only state that I do not see regional expansion as inevitable.

AP saying 5 killed in attacks on Israel. I assume but they did not say, it is from attacks going on right now.

Jeffers--I thank you and appreciate your valuable posts and insights. I believe I remember you from a few years ago on the Command Post site, when the Iraq gig kicked off...I appreciated your insights as much then as now! THanks (it IS you, isnt it? ;-) LOL (I lurked there too, other than an occasional response to Redneck, before he got his own blog....)

I've got thunder headed this way, so I may have to drop off in the next ten to twenty minutes.

Possibly severe weather on tap for later this afternoon as well.

The grid here being flaky, I usually come all the way down to a power off halt, in the past, even light line spikes have damaged equipment, ranging from modems to entire computers to the HVAC system, so war or no war, I may be in and out today, regardless of intent.

That's me. The signal to noise ratio here is orders of magnitude higher than what we had to wade through there, with PC limitations eventually ending all hope of balanced or productive discussion.

The much larger population here also brings in wider and deeper data sources too.
