The victim spotted a speeding white1996 Honda Civic and stepped into the right traffic lane to stop the car. The victim raised his hand to have the car stop, but the car accelerated and struck the victim's legs, throwing the victim over the right side of the car.

Losing a officer in the line of duty is really sad. I would not defend the perp who hit the officer but the officer jumped out in to the lane to stop the car with hand raised. I have seen this tatic used in my town and it seems very risky. I would be amazed to find out if this is taught at the academy. If the officer followed policy he would be here today and the illegal would be shipped back after serving time.
