You are probably right. the army is key to everything as in most dictatorships.Whomever they support, will rule, if they fold so does the country.My big question is whether or not there is someone in the army with a desire for power, and just how brutal he is willing to be to get there.

Nothing's going to happen after Fidel croaks. The ruling elite isn't going to just give up power any more than the North Viets will.
