SUN: "What about me? Doesn't anyone respect my power?"
And do NOTHING to stop supposed global warming. As if one state, a small piece of real estate out of the entire land mass of the earth can do anything to reverse solar output and surface temperature. Even if you believe global warming in man-made, to pretend one state's CO2 output will change the earth's temperature is the height of hubris. Spare me.
I'm seriously thinking of voting Third Party over Arnold's stand on this and I NEVER consider voting Third Party, especially knowing how much worse the Dems. will be especially a putz like Angelides. Anyone who knows me on FR or anyone who wants can look back through my posts and see I've been a staunch defender of Arnold and will almost always support GOP candidates no matter how moderate or even in some cases liberal (an exception is Lincoln Chafee and most recently Arnold Specter).
But this is a hot button issue with me and I don't like Arnold jumping on this populist, Hollywood left bulls*&t bandwagon nor his smart ass remarks he made just to curry favor with Tony Blair. I'm not about to just take seeing our state's economy trashed because of the L.A. West Side's infatuation with Al Gore and his vomitous movie.
We'll see what I do in November. As thing's stand now, I'm leaning towards Schwarzenegger needing to earn back my vote.
He should just super-nova! That'll show 'em who's boss!
I seems to me that every year, here in the midwest for a few days to a week, the temperature goes above 100.
It's called Summer....
Had it been Gray Davis doing and saying the same things about Global Warming and more regulation, I believe Republicans would be united in opposition. The absence of outrage will be our undoing, imo.
Have to give Algore some credit. He or whoever was behind his movie timed it perfectly to get people all whipped up over nothing.
I think a lot of us are just hoping it's little more than election rhetoric to add weight to Arnold's claim Angelides is the weak on the environment candidate. Still, I don't like it. If he plans to do this to the California economy there will be an outflow from this state that will rival the great migrations throughout world history. We are over-taxed, over-regulated and over gas-priced to death. NO MORE!
Carry_Okie did a comprehensive critique of that plan before the Recall election. Every time I read the plan I find new alarming details.

It is not by coincidence. Propaganda campaigns are traditionally well coordinated.
Your going to vote for a "Green" or "Socialist" Party???
Count on it. There's a tax increase (or several) lurking in all this global warming business somewhere.
I assume the Libertarians will be running someone. I'm sorry, but I'm just not the type of person to ever vote 3rd party, but economics are an important issue to me and if Arnold plans on spending the next 4 yrs. trashing the economy of this state with some environmentalist wet dream, I just can't hold the door for him as he goes out to do so.
I'm still waiting to see if he clarifies this and I'm just hoping it's election year rhetoric. I do realize you can't run and win as a true blue conservative in this state. But he seems hell bent on doing this emissions crap having gotten a big ego boost from Blair. So we'll see.
As pointed out numerous times on past threads, the Governor can't agree to anything substantive with the Prime Minister.
According to the US Constitution, Article I, Section 10:
No state shall enter into any treaty, alliance, or confederation; grant letters of marque and reprisal; coin money; emit bills of credit; make anything but gold and silver coin a tender in payment of debts; pass any bill of attainder, ex post facto law, or law impairing the obligation of contracts, or grant any title of nobility.
No state shall, without the consent of the Congress, lay any imposts or duties on imports or exports, except what may be absolutely necessary for executing it's inspection laws: and the net produce of all duties and imposts, laid by any state on imports or exports, shall be for the use of the treasury of the United States; and all such laws shall be subject to the revision and control of the Congress.
No state shall, without the consent of Congress, lay any duty of tonnage, keep troops, or ships of war in time of peace, enter into any agreement or compact with another state, or with a foreign power, or engage in war, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent danger as will not admit of delay.

Bill Clinton, global mayors form alliance on climate change
Former President Clinton and big-city mayors from around the globe announced an initiative Tuesday to combat climate change and increase energy efficiency in everything from street lights to building materials.
The partnership brings together Clinton and the resources of his presidential foundation with the Large Cities Climate Leadership Group - an alliance of Rome, London, Mexico City, Los Angeles and other cities that have pledged to cut greenhouse gas emissions.
The aim is to pool technology and resources to slash the pollutants that contribute to global warming while promoting clean-burning fuels and energy conservation.
"This is a very, very serious problem, but also a phenomenal opportunity," Clinton said at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he signed the pact while flanked by mayors of Los Angeles, San Francisco and London, as well as British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

"Unlike the United States, the United Kingdom has found a source of new jobs ... in a commitment to a clean, independent energy future. Thank you, prime minister, for setting an example that all Americans should be able to follow," Clinton said.
The pact is similar to one signed Monday by California and Britain, which will share information and technology to cut pollutants linked to climate change.
"Our aim is simple - to change the world," said London Mayor Ken Livingstone, who chairs the city group.

Have any of you guys and gals seen THIS??? (what the calcowgirl posted?)
The Big Question: What is carbon trading, and can it save the world from global warming?
By Philip Thornton, Economics Correspondent
Published: 02 August 2006
" There are three major contentions of global-warming theory, each of which is dubious: One, the globe's average temperature is rising; two, the temperature increase is because of human activity; and three, any global temperature increase will be a major disaster."
So your point ? What is it that you think that Arnold has committed us to ?
