Here's what I posted at this little newspaper:
"Ah, the pleasure of a narrow world view. Up here in Alaska, we've scarcely had a summer - the weather has been abnormally cold, rainy, and cloudy. I visited South Africa this summer, and the weather there was also abnormally cold and cloudy. I also grew up on the East Coast, and my memories of late July and early August are filled with thoughts of lying in bed without air conditioning sweating like a pig listening to the katydids in sweltering 90+ degree air. The fact is that there is more carbon dioxide in the air since 1800. What that means remains to be seen. Hot summers are normal. Neither your summer nor my summer here in Alaska can be reasonably seen as an example of long-term change. Of course, if you want to panic, use the weather as an excuse to hate capitalism or your culture, or just wring your hands, go ahead."
Here's what I tried to post (don't know if it got up):
"Human Induced Global Warming is a HOAX!! If it were such a serious problem, why are the worst polluting countries, India and China, exempt from Kyoto? Climate change on planet Earth is the only constant. The climate is constantly changing, and has been as long as there has been enough atmosphere to have a climate. Those who believe the Global Warming HOAX should ask of the Global Warming Hoaxters the following questions: Why is Greenland called Greenland? What causes Ice Ages? Why don't they make wine in England anymore? All of the aforementioned climate changes occurred BEFORE the widespread use of "fossil fuels" (the supposed villain and cause of Global Warming), so how can it possibly be that the use of "fossil fuels" are suddenly causing all of these changes in the climate?
Wake up. Don't be sheep. Take the emotions out of the debate and THINK for YOURSELVES. The same hoaxters who are pushing the Global Warming HOAX were warning us about an impending Ice Age 30 years ago. That didn't work, so now it's Global Warming. They were wrong then, they are wrong now."
