Damn, I just looked up Cap's stats and discovered that he started his career a mere six years after the end of the Civil War. I knew he was a 19th century player, but not a mid 19th century player. Now that's an old timer!

Yes from the pre-Modrn era.

Baseball gloves were just being introduced around that time and not all players were using them, in fact most didn't.

I don't know if Anson did or not but I know that Ed Delahanty did not.
