State GOP needs Cynthia McKinney

Republicans need Cynthia McKinney. The DeKalb County congresswoman defines the Democratic Party just the way the GOP likes it: strident, unresponsive and way out in left field. At least that's the way Republicans want voters to perceive Democrats.

For the Republican National Committee, Cynthia shines as a point of light in a mostly dismal national picture. Her loose-cannon behavior provides ammunition for GOP strategists.

To prove how much the elephants cherish Cynthia, the Republican-led Legislature and the Bush Justice Department reconfigured her congressional district in a way that increased the strength of her base. The GOP-mandated changes saved her from outright defeat two weeks ago.

A conspiracy theory has developed around McKinney's return to power in 2004.

The theory goes like this: Georgia GOP leaders induced Denise Majette to abandon her just-won House seat and mount an almost silly bid for the Senate. Republicans succeeded in removing Majette as an obstacle to McKinney's return from political oblivion. Majette said she ran for the Senate on advice from God. Her dismal showing indicates her counsel came from elsewhere.

Majette defeated McKinney two years earlier after McKinney suggested President George W. Bush had prior knowledge of the 9/11 attack.

An elephantine conspiracy to resurrect McKinney seems plausible. Republicans feel comfortable when Democrat McKinney is stirring up things. More than any other Georgia Democrats, McKinney is a lightning rod for bad press. Her recent encounter with a Capitol cop seeking to identify her is vintage McKinney -- lots of incensed yelling on national TV. In addition, as a House member, she constantly engages international issues while letting slide home-district concerns. She is a champion tilter at windmills.

If the seat can't be won by a Republican, moonbat McKinney hurts the democrats and I hope that she wins.

"..McKinney suggested President George W. Bush had prior knowledge of the 9/11 attack...."

She is now suing a newspaper editor and reporter for publishing this very statement as well as the fact that she hit a Capitol policeman. She denies either ever happened and is suing for libel. What a nutjob. I can't wait for her to lose.

I trade McKinney in for a sane Democrat anyday -- whether or not she helps the GOP.

Another poster-girl of the mindless left. I can certainly agree she is a great "strategist" for the GOP. Just keep her on TV as much as possible. How can a GOP candidate lose with McKinney around??? Oops, I forget, she will get the black vote in spite of herself.

And people wonder why some have lost faith in the GOP???

Surely this is a joke. Voters get what they deserve. It makes one wonder about the voters in her district.

The longer she's around and the more TV time she gets the better for the GOP.

Karl Rove could not make up a better example of the mindlessness, narcissism, and hate that is today's Democrat Party.

I get it now. The same reason that Bush & Santorum pushed for Spector to keep his job. Before that it was to give Teddy K his ADDITIONAL 11 BILLION for the schools so he could stay in office & stay the fool. I guess the GOP better give more assistance to Dorgan, Hillary, Boxer, Schumer,Harken, etc etc. Doncha just luv this corrupt, inept "Two-Party Cartel"?

If a GOP candidate NEEDS a McKinney in the mix... it tells you the Republican is a fu*king RINO! It tells you that his stand on the issues are not that much different than his Dem opponent.

Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney

Terrorist Warnings
May 16, 2002

Several weeks ago, I called for a congressional investigation into what warnings the Bush Administration received before the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. I was derided by the White House, right wing talk radio, and spokespersons for the military-industrial complex as a conspiracy theorist. Even my patriotism was questioned because I dared to suggest that Congress should conduct a full and complete investigation into the most disastrous intelligence failure in American history. Georgia Senator Zell Miller even went so far as to characterize my call for hearings as "dangerous, loony and irresponsible."

Today's revelations that the administration, and President Bush, were given months of notice that a terrorist attack was a distinct possibility points out the critical need for a full and complete congressional investigation.

It now becomes clear why the Bush Administration has been vigorously opposing congressional hearings. The Bush Administration has been engaged in a conspiracy of silence. If committed and patriotic people had not been pushing for disclosure today's revelations would have been hidden by the White House.

Because I love my country, because I am a patriot, and because the American people deserve the truth, I believe it would be dangerous, loony and irresponsible not to hold full congressional hearings on any warnings the Bush Administration had before the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

Ever since I came to Congress in 1992, there are those who have been trying to silence my voice. I've been told to "sit down and shut up" over and over again. Well, I won't sit down and I won't shut up until the full and unvarnished truth is placed before the American people.

She's playing left field so deep Barry Bonds (on 'roids) couldn't hit her a routine fly.

The state GOP needs to concentrate on its consitituents and do what their constituents elected them to do. That is what best serves the state GOP.

Cynthia is a disgrace to this nation, to her constituents, and she slugged a cop.

I realize most people were "outraged" by that at the time, but a lot of people for obvious reasons welcomed the political advantage it brought them. Which is fine, it landed in their lap and they should use it.

However, If anyone was truly offended by what she did to a cop why would they choose politics in this instance? Seems to me the moral choice is to shove her out if they can, if not their outrage over the incident is suspect imo. Certainly politics trumps ousting a cop assaulter at any rate. Not with me. I want her gone. Now.

Yep....she deserves more years and years and years of accomplishing nothing in DC other than doing what she has up to now.....being a human lightening rod for controversy. By the way, over at DU they have been sniping and slicing each other up over her. LOL
