You do agree that the author of this piece is trying to smear Israel with the phony use of that verse, yes?
I don't think so; he clearly reserved his harsh condemnation for Hezbollah. I think he is just a little naive--perhaps he leans toward Christian pacifism--and he tries to imply that God is never pleased with war, but leaves it at that, without addressing the necessary issue of whether wars may be justified.
I also think his interpretation of the verse is off, but again, I think this is more naivety than a deliberate attempt to smear Israel. Clearly, he strongly attacks Hezbollah, while only slightly implying that Israel might deserve some blame. He's wrong, perhaps, but not an Israel-hater.
