McCain's mentally-ill, from carrying too much POW baggge from Nam. He should be medically-banned from all elected offices, and consigned to harmless YMCA deskwork.

There was a post a few months back from a FReeper who witnessed McLame's meltdown at a townhall meeting, when he went off in a Star Trek mode, or something.

A lithium IV drip? Electroshock? Yes...

I learned everything I need to know about McCain when he was part of the Keating Five. I didn't think that my opinion of him could go any lower, but it did with the introduction of the McCain/Feingold CFR legislation.

re: Republican front-runner for president

Not in my book. I truly respect him for his outstanding service to our country, but I just don't think he is presidential material. I could be wrong though, and I will await the campaign. The time he spent as a POW is almost certain to have left him with some lingering mental issues.

This is going to be one very interesting Republican presidential season.

McPain may be the Antique Media's front-runner, but not the base's ... His candidacy is already toast, but McPain and the MSM will be the last to figure it out.

So, a person that was tortured beyond the comprehension of most humans has a temper! I would not like to have him with his finger over the “button”, however I can understand that he has a temper (repressed over many years being tortured). I think that he has done a superlative job maintaining his temper. If what happened to him had happened to me I would be a stark raving mad psychopath, looking for revenge in every corner of my world? This is not an excuse for McCain, just an observation and comment.

Just look at *that one pic of his mad face* during the debates with W, and you've answered your own question, N. I can't post pics, or you'd see it immediately.

He has anger issues problems? Yes. In quantities we can't even imagine.

Is there some suggestion McCain is NOT a stark raving mad psychopath, looking for revenge in every corner of his world?

.....yes.... I know the pic....I would believe he may have anger issues....but I kind of balk at some FReepers who say he is mentally ill.....I believe exactly what Hugh Hewitt said about McCain....and Hugh is the ultimate great conservative in my mind....in his letter to McCain he said....."you are a great American, a lousy Senator and a terrible Republican"....I would agree with that......

I'd be willing to bet his temperament has more to do with a priviledged upbringing than being a POW. Col Bud Day, Adm Stockdale, and others suffered as much (or more) than McCain and appear not to suffer from any mental problems. Plus, I'd medically ban quite a few DemoRats from office before McCain (Dean, Gore, McKinney, Jackson, Byrd, etc). I get my hackles up when people start attributing bad behavior or personality disorders on military service in a combat zone...... Reminds me of the 70s "Vietnam vet robs store" - the media is doing it again today "Iraq War veteran stabs man" - 9 times out of 10 these guys were deviant prior to military service.
