It seems to be paying off. The latest poll shows Arnold Schwarzenegger leading Phil Angelides by a 53% to 40% margin.
But there are important down-ballot races at stake as well.

In June, after the bitter Democratic primary, the Republican Party spent $4.2 million on ads for Schwarzenegger, who has been the party's main fundraiser. How much have they spent on ads for Mountjoy? McClintock? McPherson? Poochigian? Strickland? Poizner? Parrish?
