I hear this rumor that we have a Republican running for the senate against Barbara Boxer.. You never know, it might be right...

It seems to be paying off. The latest poll shows Arnold Schwarzenegger leading Phil Angelides by a 53% to 40% margin.

But there are important down-ballot races at stake as well.

In June, after the bitter Democratic primary, the Republican Party spent $4.2 million on ads for Schwarzenegger, who has been the party's main fundraiser.

How much have they spent on ads for Mountjoy? McClintock? McPherson? Poochigian? Strickland? Poizner? Parrish?

None, you say? Hmmm... Is this the Republican Party or the Party of Arnold?
