"The DEMS won't win another election for decades. The Bush Lied, Troops died sect is history. "

Would it be possible that Condi and Bush are delaying cease-fire purposefully to get to those Iraqi WMD's and destroy the Democrats' election hopes?

Amen !

Double Amen. I can do without a lot of things, but, for my family's safety, I can't run out of those. :-)

Baalbeck has some of the biggest and best roman ruins outside of Italy.

Hate to say it, but that statement won't be correct in a few days. Those ruins will be referred to in the past tense, unfortunately. I hope I'm wrong.

Here's an alternative site for some choice Roman ruins:

You can find the Porta Nigra in Trier, Germany. The town is beautiful, and far away from the violence in the Middle East.

CNN isn't worth watching. That propaganda machine is useless for real news and always has been.

It most certainly does. I went on the first couple of threads as the story was breaking and let my feelings be known about how I felt on the subject, but, no more. I won't touch them with a 10 foot pole now.

NORTHERN ISRAEL (CNN) -- The Israeli military engaged in fierce fighting Tuesday with Hezbollah forces just across the border with Lebanon, and the Lebanese Army reported Israeli aircraft struck targets near the Syrian border.

Israeli aircraft hit "several" targets near the northeastern Lebanese town of Baalbeck, the Lebanese army reported.

The army also reported heavy helicopter traffic east and west of the town. The Arab-language television network Al-Arabiya said it appeared the Israeli army was attempting to drop in soldiers.

The Israel Defense Forces had no comment on the reports.

My point exactly.

Criticize the government but not the LE.

Where is the modern Charles Martel indeed?

No, they can't, but hopefully, this WILL have a domino effect.

But that's no reason to stock up on water. Besides which, I have my own well. :-)

Baalbek and Bekaa Valley are:

1. Ancient holy land for Baalites, the pagans who worshipped war and held massive fertility festivals. Baalites are thought to be the inspiration for Alawites in Syria and Baathists in Iraq.

2. Currently the Bekka Valley is the center for the Lebanese hashish trade that is alleged to be controlled by Rifaat al-Assad, who lives in a chateau outside of Paris. He is the uncle of dictator Assad of Syria, and is also said to be in control of illicit arms transactions.

3. Center for weapons trade and training of terrorists.

4. Probable first stop over for WMD from Saddam.

A move to Baalbek outflanks Damascus, so if the Israelis hold territory there, and expand their presence, Syria would feel very threatened by that development. A few hundred troops brought in by helicopter doesn't give Israel an offensive option against Syria, of course.

I wouldn't put it past the Hizb'Allah savages to blow up the ancient temples in Baalbek and blame it on the Israelis.

MSNBC is now reporting this as well

BOURJ AL-MULOUK, Lebanon - Helicopters landed Israeli soldiers on hills near the northeastern Lebanese town of Baalbek, a Hezbollah stronghold, on late Tuesday, Lebanese security sources said.

Israeli warplanes also attacked at least five suspected Hezbollah positions near Baalbek in eastern Lebanon's Bekaa Valley, three hours before the official end of a two-day pause in the air war.

The aim of the operation was not immediately clear, they said. An Israeli army spokesman declined to comment.

And those people call themselves "conservatives". That's the worst part of it. But at least, now we all know just what and who they are....which isn't conservative at all.

"Baalbek is in the Bekaa Valley, close to Syria."

Do they pray to Baal in Baalbeck?

Hear us, oh Baal, hear us!
