A chance encounter in the lobby of the National Press Club suggests that it's possible — not likely, but possible — that immigration reform could pass this year.
Prospects are grim because House Republicans seem dug in on their plan to fight illegal immigration, period, while the Senate wants to combine border and workplace enforcement with work permits and an opportunity for illegal immigrants to become legal residents and citizens.

Backsliding back into Dim control is not the way forward and this goes for the RINO's as well.

Us, the voters. As hard as I tried to get everyone to hold Bush's feet to the fire during the last election cycle, I was told, 'What am I going to do, vote for Kerry?'. Note, that this was after Bush had signed the Social Security Totalization Agreement with Mexico.
Guess who could force him to enforce the law.
Again, us the voters. We could contact Congress to express our dismay and demand they take action.
Guess who could impeach him if he doesn't.
Congress. If they had the intestinal fortitude, which they don't because they, too, would rather be reelected than to stand up for some silly notion like, national security.
I've read the speech. It promises amnesty for illegals and a massive increase in third world migration. Why do you want that?
