Pence-Hutchison bill creates hope on immigration (RINO Alert)
JewishWorldReview ^ | 1 AUGUST 2006 | Morton Kondracke

A chance encounter in the lobby of the National Press Club suggests that it's possible — not likely, but possible — that immigration reform could pass this year.

Prospects are grim because House Republicans seem dug in on their plan to fight illegal immigration, period, while the Senate wants to combine border and workplace enforcement with work permits and an opportunity for illegal immigrants to become legal residents and citizens.

And he indicated that a leading supposed hard-liner, House Judiciary Chairman Jim Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., might well support such a bill. And pigs might fly!

"Senate wants to combine border and workplace enforcement "

Hah Hah!
The Senate "border enforcement" is a sham.
They voted for it before voting AGAINST funding it.
Even the border wall they had belatedly voted for, had clauses for "consultation" with all kinds of Mexican authorities before any walls could be built. Who's fooling who here?
Only thing to do is to kill the Senate Amnesty Bill FOR GOOD!

"We must kill this compromise"

The sarcasm would work better if it were actually a "compromise." It's not.

Actually, all the legislators do is write the laws. It's up to the executive branch to enforce the laws.

And, guess who hasn't been enforcing the laws for the last few years?

Sarcasm withstanding, there are a lot of politicians that are in mortal fear that this issue, illegal immigration, will go away. It is the source of their support and funding.

Guess who is responsible for seeing that the executive branch enforces the laws.

Guess who could force him to enforce the law.

Guess who could impeach him if he doesn't.

"there are a lot of politicians that are in mortal fear that this issue, illegal immigration, will go away. It is the source of their support and funding."

There are a lot politicians in mortal fear their money will dry up if they don't get Amnesty+ through. Why would the casinos, landscapers, hotels, and other lobbies back their campaigns if they don't come through with the goods they were paid for? And promises of presidential runs too, like Hagel and Pence in 2008.

Read the Pence plan.It is a whole lot better than not doing anything. Question: How many more illegals will come here while we argue over amnesty?

"Read the Pence plan."

It reads like it was written by the usual set of immigration lawyers paid by the cheaper labor lobbies who put it in Pence's hand. It was an attempt to plaster over some concerns related by conservatives to the Hagel bill, yet in their glee they couldn't help themselves by putting in things more absurd than the Hagel bill, like the laughable "Ellis Island Centers."

""It is a whole lot better than not doing anything.""

False. It's worse than doing nothing. A lot worse.

"Question: How many more illegals will come here while we argue over amnesty?"

So if we give amnesty they'll stop? I don't comprehend what you are trying to convey.

I read the Pence plan! It's full of ifs and buts. It empowers the very people who hire illegals to control their reentry into this country
'IF' they decide to self-deport.

Kondrake is one of those Beltway elitists for whom compromise requires one essential ingredient - amnesty.

All other parts are optional.

He and the rest of the amnesty crowd are totally wired into the Tarrance Group spin machine. Tarrance is essentially a pro-amnesty not-think tank. Their spokesperson, Tamara(sp) Jacoby is a one-note shrill shill on amnesty and open borders and she gets all the air time she wants.

Tarrance/Lake polls on immigration are always loaded with pro illegal cheap-labor questions, like "Would you rather saves $50,000 on your new house by using hard-working, family-values immigrants?"

There is no outside substantiation of their claim that ". . . voters prefer passing a bill this year that includes what critics deride as "amnesty" to passing no legislation at all."

Bottom line - it you see Tarrance Group or Tamara Jacoby, move on to something else.

every single compromise has been just a back door to slipping in amnesty and torpedoing enforcement.

They do the "slow motion amnesty" vs instant amnesty,

They neuter the wall with mexican consultation and no money to build the wall.

The best that can happen is to let the senate bill and all the Capital B Capital S amnesty compromises die a miserable agonizing tordured death.

I take it you think the exclusion of any human not from the Americas from this "guest worker" program is a positive then?

Listen,

regardless of what house or senate bill, is, or is not, passed this year.........

The white house amnesty agenda will reign supreme in 2007.

This is the bush legacy, like it or not.

hear me now and think about it next year.

I really hope that I am wrong...............

therefore it would make sense to only support representatives who are adamant about closing the borders.......period.
