A chance encounter in the lobby of the National Press Club suggests that it's possible — not likely, but possible — that immigration reform could pass this year.
Prospects are grim because House Republicans seem dug in on their plan to fight illegal immigration, period, while the Senate wants to combine border and workplace enforcement with work permits and an opportunity for illegal immigrants to become legal residents and citizens.

I now see the errors of my way. All this time, I mistakenly thought that closing the border with a fence, more border patrol, and tougher employer sanctions would make us safer and the country better off. , I figured that, as usual, fool that I am,that the sooner the better. Thanks for letting me know what was really important.

"Immigration Reform" is turning out to be one of the great Orwellian phrases of our time. Such a nice way to say "massive increase in third-world migration and abandonment of enforcement."
And Pence is turning out to be quite the administration sock-puppet in this sad saga.

"Immigration Reform" is turning out to be one of the great Orwellian phrases of our time. It is the LIE OF THE CENTURY, told to Americans by an American President.
If there was a backbone in Congress, Mr. Bush would be made to answer for deceiving America, but unfortunately most Congressional members have spines of jelly and do not deserve re-election.
History will not be kind to ANY of them.

Read the Pence plan.It is a whole lot better than not doing anything.
Doing nothing is 100% better then amnesty and opening the borders for big business.
