The wires are carrying a story saying Israel has changed its plans and now intends to hold Lebanese territory until the international force arrives. They're talking about south Lebanon, of course, but that could be the report the CBS somehow got scrambled up.

With total air cover and the ability to bring in fresh supplies and reinforcements by helicopter you can hold territory. It's not easy, but we did it during Vietnam. The Mel Gibson movie (before he went nuts) called We Were Soldiers, about LZ X-Ray is a perfect example. And the ability to replenish at night is much better now than it was in the mid 60's. And close air support has changed out of all recognition.

it sounds like they have their guys in there - and they are going to use close air support to protect them. its a gutsy move, if true.
