I am fan of his too. I bet he is feeling pretty low about now. It is bad enough when someone has to face rehab and shame in the face of your family and friends.

But to face it all, along with your arrest, terrible behavior, despicable statements, and all the humilation - has to be worse than anything I can imagine.

I have prayed for the guy. I really like him. If he had just been arrested for DUI - that would be one thing. His statements against the Jews was just over the top for me - and I still cannot believe it.

Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. I incline to the belief that his father's anti-Semitic comments really influenced Mel, unavoidably, in his younger days, but that Mel has worked to overcome what he imbibed from his father's attitudes, but under the influence, the old tapes played.

His statements against the Jews was just over the top for me - and I still cannot believe it.

Why? His father is a Holocaust denier, and Mel has long credited his father with leading him into the bizarre religious beliefs and practices that they share. Nobody should be surprised that he has a warped view of Jews. Personally, I think he and his father are both seriously mentally ill, and their cultish religious beliefs are just manifestations of that illness.
