"Are you serious? He attacked Mother Teresa? That would be like.....like.....I can't even think of a worthy comparison."
I had a female Catholic friend who went all the way to India to meet Mother Teresa. She was really disappointed. I think the funniest thing she said when she told her story was that, "Mother Teresa was not a people person."
Another story I read by a volunteer at her hospice was that people with easily treated problems were brought there to die and did die without any effort to treat them. Specifically mentioned was a man with a gangrenous wound in his foot. Some antibiotics and treatment could have saved this guy. Instead he was allowed to die.
Wow. I'm speechless.
Oh, shut up. You sound just like Christopher Hitchens.
There have been morer slanders printed about this remarkable woman than any other modern religious figure.
But her being a saint--that goes with the territory. There's not a saint in the Canon who was not vilified by the jealous and the envious whilst they trod this earth.
For Hitchens' views on Mother Teresa see the online archive of Slate. The article -- "Mommie Dearest" appeared on Oct. 20, 2003. It calls Mother Teresa a fanatic who condemns third world women to poverty by denying them reproductive freedom -- translation: she is pro-life and devoted herself to rescuing babies rather than arranging abortions. Also accuses her of being a fraud, a friend of Baby Doc Duvalier and other misc. offenses.
You ought to read what Hitchens has written about Ronald Reagan. In one typical attack he said Reagan was reptilian.
