If the US had any balls it would catch the Syrian Army, now arrayed along the Syrian Lebanon border , by surprise with devastaing air strikes from Ieaq. Destroying the Syrian army utterly from the air.

Yeah, we could call it Pearl Harbour 2. Nice...

No we have already had Pearl Harbor 2 on 9/11, the way we are going now will assure Pearl Harbor X 100.

And for your entertainment we have France publicly saying that Iran is a "stabilizing factor in the region.

See: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1675211/posts

Amazing what happens when you sit on evidence that shows the truth of the matter.History gets redefined, and confusion reigns, divide and conquer wins.

This assures that the USA will have to fight much later when it will not be to our advantage with a probably nuclear armed Iran, or in the alternative abandon Israel as an ally eventually, fighting NOW prevents much worse. We are in a cycle of history very much like pre WWII, the 1930s, and we are making the same mistakes we did then, raw appeasment of an aggressor Axis of nations, and their running fascist henchmen. No good can come of it.

Nice........., real nice.

One can only avoid repeating history's mistakes if one is well enough informed to be aware of history. Here, the problem is that GW has never read a history book more significant than ''The Little Engine That Could,'' and his supervisor, Karl Rove, has never read any book except ''How to Create Mass Dissention: Starting a War for Fun and Profit.'' What a truly sad state of affairs of state. We were fooled into reelecting a moron.

I see that you probably get the same inkling that I do.

This is a test of our President which, if failed, will be the defining moment of his leadreship. He rose to the occasion in 2001, but now, it seems that he can see no further than next Novembers election, and has become a moderate , timorous Republican.

The Israelis need to complete the job and we need to help them. When Iraq attacked Israel with Scuds in the first Iraq war,, they dutifully sat as targets at our request,to mollify the Saudis years ago. Israel has been reasonable and patient beyond what any person could expect.

I hope that this new found timidity is not the case and that it is deception, but in this mix, it would seem that now is the time to stare the Islamofascists down, and to be prepared to act against Syria from US Northern bases in Iraq.

A short air campaign would totally destroy the Syrian Army arrayed along the Lebanon border. They are sitting ducks that could be literally destroyed forever by a joint action of Israel and our nation.

What happened? Why are we so timorous on the issue with the Islamofascist Axis. It just does not add up.

Since when has appeasement worked against fascists?

This is not just Israel's issue, it is our's, and President Bushes continued timidity will assure a Republican defeat in November.

Okay, you are right. I just think Bush was doing just fine confronting Tehran as he was. I think he has genuine support of civilized, democratically elected, judeo-christian nations for his policies to confront terrorism. But putting a world wide military machine together and running it down the train track (public opinion), and then decide to downshift gears is tough. If they are so bad, why are we not taking them out? Senior military officials must have told him something, i.e. stretched thin.

Sigh. I guess it was invariable that given enough time, a second Carter Administration would emerge in American politics.

I didn't say it lacked strategic wisdom. It certainly lacks honour and will remove a large amout of the moral distinction that AAmerica has preserved a s a distinctive factor between her armies and those of her rivals.

>>In Nick Burns' defense, he has twice cited Iranian support for Hezbollah on MTP and on another Sunday Show. This sounds like a Sources and Methods thing. Sounds like a 'one war at a time' principle that's being followed.

Be Seeing You,

Chris<<

Very interesting, thank you.

My concern was that there seemed to be a feeding frenzy directed at the President before all the facts were in.
